Moving around the Alps: Towards Sustainable Tourism Mobility

Tourism is a significant asset for the economic and cultural development of the Alps, with the region attracting around 120 million tourists every year. However, tourism also poses significant challenges to Alpine ecosystems, cultural heritage, and the quality of life for residents as well as visitors.

The event promoted by the Italian Presidency of the Alpine Convention aims at facilitating an exchange of information and experiences to better understand the progress of sustainable tourism practices in the Alps, focusing on one of its fundamental aspects: mobility.

The discussion will cover environmental pressures and impacts of tourism mobility; governance and institutional collaboration, planning and management; innovative initiatives of monitoring and good practices.
